All of us have experienced moments in our lives when we lose all hope, and the shadow of fear and hopelessness trap us in its darkness. In these bouts of doubt, we're willing to let the darkness drag us into its abyss. However, we also experience moments when everything unfolds beyond our control and wishes. Yet, these times define us; only our deepest courage can rise above these times.
To some extent, we all examine and face mortality at various points, but most don’t know that death is not what it seems...
Our main audience is people who have overwhelming fears of death. The goal of this film is to show people, families, and communities around the world (especially juniors) impacted by loss and terminal illness that death doesn't have to be a frightening phenomenon. We believe this film can bring comfort and inspiration to the terminally ill and their loved ones and prove that death can be a moment of strength, liberation, peace, and beauty -- despite the pain and grief...
This film aims to present a unique perspective about life and death to evolve our collective understanding of the humanity of death.
Considering the dark nature of the main idea and the psychological background of our protagonist, we endeavor to amplify the emotional gravitas of the story to universally relate to our collective human experience. Death can be devasting; but, the reality that we all face mortality can give infinite meaning to the moments we share together. We celebrate life by honoring the dead through our fellowship with one another and goodwill to Earth. Our purpose while living encapsulates our beauty in death...
The Soul Postman is currently being developed with completely remote staff. This heartfelt passion project is made possible with international collaboration!
We began pre-production on this project in November 2019 with the devoted support of our team, family, and friends. With your generous support, we can see this film through to full fruition. Currently, characters and environmental modeling are complete with rough designs, and we are ready to finalize the color, animation, and final touches on the project.
Animation films require considerable financial and technical assets, and at the current stage of the project, your support can ensure our successful completion! While funds are of great importance to complete the project, simply sharing this campaign and spreading the word will be invaluable as well!
Funding will procure essential equipment and supply the resources to hire supporting technicians and artists Unfortunately, achieving the technical requirements of development isn't currently possible without improvements to our animation rigs and software. While you may be unable to contribute to this project financially, we appreciate any attention and "word-of-mouth" sharing you may possibly be able to contribute.
Our inspiration flows from historical great works of art from all fields. Yet, we are particularly influenced by the works of Hitchcock, John Ford, Kubrick, Peter Jackson, Nolan, Spielberg, and Bergman among many others. However, we continue our studies to consistently expand our knowledge to fuel our ongoing growth and development as storytellers and stewards of moving art.
Our Root End team's ongoing goal of creating animation films is done so in an effort to enhance the cinematic depth and drama within the realm of rich 3D animation. Despite being inspired and influenced by many traditional forms of animation, we continuously strive to push boundaries and create innovative new approaches to the craft.
Hence, we utilize the most modern animation techniques and methods to ensure the highest possible quality. Our emphasis to only accept the best will ensure this film's noteworthy distinction compared to other animation works. Therefore, we aim to contribute new perspectives to the field of animation and inspire a new generation of young storytellers.
The Root End team will continue to work full-time on the project in collaboration with freelancers to complete the final stages of the project. These other individuals include animators, motion capture artists, and other potential creatives.
In an effort to be good stewards of the environment, and in light of the COVID19 pandemic, the rewards we chose are all digital (save 1). We're offering a range of digital rewards for our supporters!
As we're sure you know, producing high-quality animation is a complicated and expensive procedure; but, since we have gathered a team of extremely talented professionals, we are quite confident that we can manage to deliver The Soul Postman to the utmost standards!
Our team is currently focusing all our assets on this project, and we have already invested a lot of our own funds to meet this challenge. Thus, we believe in our work, and we are sure that this film's message is worthy of all our investment and dedication. We will finish this animated film according to the aforementioned production schedule.
Our hope and goal are to get the minimum funding, so we can finish the film. With your support, we will reach our primary and stretch goals! Unexpected challenges in animation are inevitable parts of any independent project, but our team is prepared to overcome such challenges and create a meaningful film with your aid.
We are ready and willing to share The Soul Postman project with you, and we promise to do our best to make you proud. Thank you for your time, efforts, consideration, and support!
With love and gratitude,
The majority of the funds will support finalizing the environment and character models as well as motion capture. Motion capture fees include renting the equipment and compensating the motion capture artists. Provided we achieve the second stretch goal, it will be possible to purchase a wireless motion capture package from Rokoko and a face ware software package from Image Metrics which will allow the motion capture artists to work freely without any time or location restrictions. This will facilitate cost reduction to deliver the highest quality in the least amount of time.
Rendering will constitute another large portion of the budget. We're utilizing the amazing Maxwell Render engine by Next Limit Technologies. Maxwell is one of the most famous rendering engines in the world and provides renders with absolutely perfect quality. We use this engine because we believe it delivers the highest quality possible, in lesser amount of time than what it would take if any other engines were used. Since we have designed extensive factors for each sequence with a high amount of details, multi-layered high-resolution textures, cinematic lighting with several sources, and full HD resolutions, we will need to rent a powerful render farm so we can render the project without any difficulties.
(We are honored to be already supported and sponsored by Next Limit for the rendering software for the project).
The remaining funds will support the sound, music, and voice acting. The final soundtrack will be delivered in mono, stereo, and 5.1 & 7.1 surround sound formats.
